A 60-year-old man who dumped 150 tyres and large barrels in the same place has been fined.

Leroy Bartholomew pleaded guilty at High Wycombe Magistrates Court to two counts of depositing controlled waste without the authority of a current environmental permit.

He was charged after Buckinghamshire Council's enforcement team found CCTV footage which showed an individual dumping the waste into a ditch on the A412 Uxbridge Road.

The resident of Tenby Road, London, was given a 12-month community order to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work and was ordered to pay £1,200 in prosecution costs at a rate of £50 a month.

Buckinghamshire Council warned it would not tolerate fly-tipping

Buckinghamshire Council said when they initially tracked the vehicle in the CCTV footage, Bartholomew refused to cooperate with the investigation.

Thomas Broom, Buckinghamshire Council's cabinet member for climate change and environment warned the authority would not tolerate fly-tipping.

He said: "The evidence in this case was overwhelming and allowed us to bring the case to court despite the defendant choosing not to engage with our investigations.

"We will always seek to prosecute where we can and rely on the judicial system to deliver a ruling that acts as a firm deterrent to 'would-be' offenders.

"In this case, the defendant will have to carry out a lengthy term of community service which will allow him to reflect on his actions; actions which have earned him a criminal record."
