Motorists have been left facing delays on the M1 due to resurfacing work after a lorry fire.

The northbound carriageway was closed after a lorry caught fire on a slip road near Trowell in Nottinghamshire on Tuesday.

One lane later reopened, but three remained closed into Wednesday for emergency resurfacing work to be carried out.

Drivers were left facing tailbacks of about two hours, stretching back to junction 23a at peak traffic times, although National Highways said a second lane had reopened at 18:10 BST and a third at 19:15 while resurfacing continued.
