Tribute to 'beautiful' son who had brain tumour

The family of a "beautiful" 17-year-old boy who died after being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour has paid tribute to his "generosity" and "compassion".

Arlo Lambie, from Cowes on the Isle of Wight, was diagnosed with the grade 4 tumour in October 2024 after suffering from multiple migraines.

Following his diagnosis, he began regularly travelling to France for alternative treatment after NHS methods proved unsuccessful.

The teenager, who attended Brockenhurst College in Hampshire, died on Sunday morning, his family said.

In a tribute, posted to his JustGiving page set up to raise funding for his treatment, his family said: "Our beautiful Arlo died peacefully yesterday morning surrounded by the love of family and friends.

"Arlo held deep appreciation for the wonder and abundance of life and to the end shared it with generosity, love, grace, lightness, humour and compassion."

His family thanked those on the island for their "incredible support", and said they "look forward to celebrating Arlo and this amazing community with you all soon".

They added that any funds raised in Arlo's name would be used to "support causes close to his heart".

The fundraiser has reached more than £109,000 since it was launched in late 2024.

Arlo had been taking a drug called ONC20 and was travelling once a month to Paris for a month's supply of the medication.

As part of the fundraising efforts, a non-uniform day was held at more than 70 schools and businesses across the Isle of Wight in February.

At Arlo's request, those taking part wore "what makes them happy".

At the time, his friend Taylor, who came up with the original idea, said: "Arlo is the nicest guy, he deserves our help. I hope this day fills him with a smile."
