'I do feel proud of what I've achieved'

A man who illuminates his neighbourhood with a 70,000-bulb Christmas display says it has created a "magical atmosphere".

Dan Noall, 21, from Hayle, said the festive display at Bodriggy Court was part of a 20-year old family tradition.

The resident, who took over the tradition as an 11-year old, said he was "proud" of the festive achievement.

"It takes me back to when I was younger, it creates a magical atmosphere and when it comes to the switch on seeing how excited people are, and seeing how much joy it brings them, is a wonderful feeling," he said.

One resident said it was Mr Noall's best display so far

"It's pretty mad. There is probably at least 65,000 to 70,000 bulbs this year."

Mr Noall said he expanded the display, which was previously limited to an exterior wall, at the age of 16.

"I started studying electrical installation in college and gained a lot more knowledge and experience in that field - and therefore then felt comfortable enough to start expanding the display," he said.

"By 2021 I was right out to the end of the road where Bodriggy Court connects to Sea Lane.

"In 2023 I finally was able to expand out on the other side of the entrance."

The resident said the display was funded by his own income as well as donations from residents and visitors.

"People always ask me about the electric bill and I say 'it's not too bad because it's LED'," he added.

Dan's grandfather, Richard Noall, said he hoped everybody would "enjoy" the lights.

Bodriggy Court resident, Phyliss, said the display was "the best he has done so far".

"Daniel has put so much work into it," she said.

"All of the residents love it."

Mr Noall said the display would go ahead again in 2025.
