A pop-rock band have said they "can't wait to return to Norfolk next summer" after being announced as the headliners of a music festival heading to Norwich.

McFly, whose singer Danny Jones won this year's I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, will perform on the opening night of Rock N Roll Circus in Earlham Park next August.

The quartet, known for hits such as All About You and Five Colours in Her Hair, will be supported by Essex singer-songwriter and Eurovision contestant Sam Ryder.

In a statement, McFly said: "Rock N Roll Circus in Norwich sounds amazing. See you there."

McFly were thrust into the spotlight in 2004 with the release of their debut album, Room on the 3rd Floor, which saw the group win a Brit Award for Best British Pop Act.

Since then the four-piece have had seven UK number one singles and have sold millions of records worldwide.

They will be at Earlham Park on 14 August along with Ryder, The Lottery Winners, Rianne Downey, Deco and Norwich's Youth Killed It.

The event will run from until 17 August, with Courteeners and Olly Murs also topping the bill over the weekend.

'Perfect act'

Ali O'Reilly is the director of the festival, which blends "incredible live music with the wonder of the circus", including acrobatics and aerial displays.

"Rock N Roll Circus is launching in Norwich with a bang," he said.

"McFly is the perfect act to open the show. Their energy and iconic hits will set the tone for an unforgettable weekend."
