More speed bumps set for village roads
More speed bumps are set to be installed on a series of busy roads in a Warwickshire village to protect "vulnerable" road users.
A total of £35,700 is being used to crack down on speeding on three roads in Hartshill.
Margaret Bell, Warwickshire County Council's portfolio holder for adult social care and health, unlocked the money from a discretionary fund for the project.
When explaining the need for the project, she said: "This scheme will help to protect vulnerable pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users."
A council report said the speed bumps would be installed on Church Road, Castle Road and Atherstone Road due to repeated complaints over speeding.
The scheme will see them put in every 196-262ft (60-80m), plus a raised table crossing by Hartshill Academy and Nathaniel Newton Infant School, in order to slow down vehicles.
Once installed, the overall stretch of road covered by physical speed controlling measures will be more than a mile (1.6km).
A council report showed that drivers were clocked at 37mph in the 30mph zone in Castle Road and Atherstone Road.
Jan Matecki, the portfolio holder for transport and planning, signed off on the plans last week.
This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
