The Met Office has recorded parts of Norfolk and Suffolk as the hottest and sunniest in the region ahead of a heat health warning.

The East of England is one of eight regions to receive a yellow heat health warning from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).

The yellow status means the hot weather has "potential for significant impacts" across the health and social care sector with a risk to those who are particularly vulnerable.

The alert will be in effect from Monday at 08:00 BST to Thursday at 17:00.

On Sunday, the Met Office recorded Santon Downham in Suffolk as having the highest temperature in the East of England at 25.7C (78F), and Weybourne in Norfolk was recorded as the sunniest.

Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care System shared its advice on X, formerly known as Twitter, which includes staying in the shade where possible, wearing suncream and sunglasses, avoiding strenuous activity and wearing a hat and loose-fitting clothing.

While the weather is expected to get cooler and cloudier by the end of the week, the Met Office says there is uncertainty about how quickly that change will take place.
