Two charged in connection with closed murder probe

Two women have been charged with perverting the course of justice in connection with a now-closed murder investigation.

Keiran Wood, 24, from Horden, County Durham, died on 22 May 2023 after a stabbing in Spurn Walk, Hartlepool, Cleveland Police said.

The two women, aged 38 and 57, are due to appear at Teesside Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

A police spokesman said a man who had been arrested in connection with the death had since died.

They added: "No charges were brought to the man before he died."

The investigation into the murder had now closed, police said.
