Drunk police officer nearly four times over limit

The former police officer will be sentenced for drink driving in April

A former police officer who was more than three-and-a-half times over the drink drive limit would have been sacked had she not quit, a panel found.

Lauren Payne, of Sutherland Close, Romsey, was found to have 123 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath on 17 January on the A303 in Popham.

The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

The 26-year-old former police constable admitted drink driving at Reading Magistrates' Court on 4 February and is due to be sentenced on 1 April. She was given unconditional bail.

A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary panel said Payne will be placed on the College of Policing's barred list for five years.
