A festive event in a seaside town has been postponed following a forecast of heavy rain and winds of up to 50mph (80 km/h).

The Skegness Christmas market, which was due to take place on Saturday at Tower Gardens, will now take place on 30 November.

Organisers Skegness Carnival wrote on Facebook they had to make the "difficult decision" to postpone the event because of "high wind speeds this weekend".

The organisers said a herd of reindeer would still appear at the rescheduled event, alongside 60 stalls and entertainment.

The market will take place between 10:00 GMT and 16:00.

Last year the market was held on Lumley Avenue but was moved to bigger venue Tower Gardens this year due to demand.
