Motorbike rider dies after crash with a van

A 25-year-old motorbike rider has died after being involved in a crash with a van.

Merseyside Police said the crash happened in Dock Road, Wallasey, just after 14:30 GMT on Friday. Officers said the rider suffered "serious injuries" and was pronounced dead in hospital.

The van driver stopped at the scene and police have appealed for witnesses.

Ch Insp Phil Thompson said "our thoughts and condolences are with victim's family at this tragic time and we have specially trained officers supporting them".
