Signs show safe dog entry points to city rivers

New signs are appearing along popular city walks to mark safe spots for dogs to access rivers.

Truro's countryside rangers have introduced the signs in a bid to reduce bank erosion and offer dogs and their owners easier access to waterways at Coosebean Woodland.

They are also planning to install signs at Daubuz Moor and woodlands at Glasteinan.

The team said dogs scrambling in to and out of the rivers leads to them clawing away material, causing problems for pathways, wildlife and the stability of the banks.

The signs have been positioned at easy access points, at shallow points of the rivers.

Dog owners who use the rivers are advised to check the river for wildlife before they let their pets in to the water, and to keep them within view at all times.

The team added: "We thank you for helping to look after these wild spaces and hope you enjoy spending time in them as much as we do."
