A 38-year-old man has died after being found seriously injured on a street in South Lanarkshire.

Police were called to the scene at General's Gate in Uddingston at about 19:30 on Sunday.

The man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow but was found to be dead on arrival.

Police Scotland said officers were remaining at the scene while an investigation into the man's death continues.
