Driver, 85, dies in four-car crash on major road

A man in his 80s has died in a four-vehicle crash on a major road.

Thames Valley Police said the collision between a grey Audi A3, a grey Jaguar XE, a black Ford Puma and a grey Seat Leon happened on the A44 near Enstone in Oxfordshire on Wednesday at about 15:20 BST.

The Ford driver, 85, died at the scene. His passenger, a woman in her 70s, and the Audi driver, a man in his 60s, suffered life-threatening injuries and remain in hospital.

The Jaguar driver, a man in his 60s, suffered minor injuries and has been discharged from hospital.

The victim's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The road, which was closed by the emergency services, was later reopened.

Investigating officer Det Sgt Lyndsey Blackaby appealed for witnesses or people who might provide a dashcam footage of the incident to contact the force.
