Ed Sheeran releases music video shot in Suffolk

A film company which helped Ed Sheeran shoot his latest music video in Suffolk said it was a "real pleasure" to work with him.

The former Framlingham schoolboy filmed the video for his newest Christmas single Under The Tree on Southwold seafront and around the town.

The video, which was released this week, features Sheeran and Bridgerton star Claudia Jessie, and was shot by Love Actually director Richard Curtis.

The production was managed by Screen Suffolk and its film officer Jim Horsfield said: "The guys that came and filmed were an absolute delight to work with."

Sheeran's newest single will feature in a Netflix film called That Christmas, directed by Simon Otto and starring Brian Cox and Bill Nighy.

Sheeran can be seen standing outside the Little Gems shop, in Market Place, and strolling along the Southwold coastline in front of beach huts.

He posed with fans during breaks from shooting the clips, including Amanda Jane, who said he was "polite and approachable".

Mr Horsfield, who has previously worked with actors including Ralph Fiennes and Carey Mulligan, said it was no surprise Sheeran decided to film at one of his old stomping grounds.

"Suffolk is a unique location - we've got big skies, which means there's great light to shoot in," he added.

"People like to stay local and keep it real with places and people that they know and that's obviously something Ed enjoys doing."

Mr Horsfield added: "It was a real pleasure to work [on the video] and there was a really nice atmosphere on the set, everyone was really friendly and open."
