Woman, 61, who was hit by van dies in hospital

A woman has died in hospital after she was injured in a crash outside a supermarket.

Kathleen Nichol, 61, was hit by a van at Tesco on Baths Road in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, shortly before noon on Tuesday.

She was taken to hospital with serious injuries but died on Wednesday, Staffordshire Police confirmed.

A force spokesperson said the driver of the van remained at the scene and has been assisting officers with their investigation.
