Pedestrian dies in rush-hour crash

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car during rush hour.

Lancashire Police said the man, aged in his 60s, was hit by a Hyundai IX20 car at 17:00 GMT on Thursday in Padiham Road, Burnley.

The force said he "suffered serious injuries" and was pronounced dead in hospital. Police have appealed for witnesses or any video footage.

Sgt Simon Strickland said his thoughts are "with the man's family and loved ones at this sad and distressing time".
