Homemade bunting put up around Guernsey

People in Guernsey have started to decorate the island with bunting to mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day.

Islander Megs Bailey sent out a plea after last year's celebration which asked residents to donate old fabric to create the decorations.

She told the BBC last year she wanted to bring back the "make do and mend" spirit of World War Two by decorating St Peter Port in homemade bunting.

The celebratory bunting, which marks 80 years since Guernsey was liberated from German occupation, can be found between the Weighbridge roundabout and the Slaughterhouse.

Ms Bailey said she had felt "a bit frustrated" Liberation Day had started to feel "a bit flat" since the pandemic.

The fabric donation bins were located at Alliance, Waitrose, Craftwise at Oatlands and at Douzaine Rooms.
