Artwork has been commissioned to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the University of Warwick.

David Speed, who specialises in neon pink aerosol works, and has completed pieces around the world, will create a "large-scale mural" at the institution.

Staff and students will vote on the final design, which the artist will develop after spending time on campus.

The artwork will be unveiled in late May.

Mr Speed is well-known for creating installations in bold, fluorescent colours.

He has been commissioned in countries across the globe to create pieces for MTV, department store Fortnum & Mason, and basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal.

It won't mark his first work in Warwickshire either.

In 2021, when Coventry was named the UK's city of culture, he created a large mural on Tower Street.

"I'm looking forward to returning to Coventry," Mr Speed said.

"I see this project as a true collaboration, not only with The University of Warwick, but with the wider community."

Professor Rachel Moseley from the university said the mural would be a "lasting testament to Warwick's spirit of innovation and imagination".
