A blaze has completely destroyed a terraced house in a Devon seaside town, say firefighters.

Seven fire appliances including an aerial ladder platform were deployed after a call to Marina Drive in Brixham, Devon, at 21:37 BST on Saturday.

Smoke and flames were coming from the mid-terraced house when crews arrived, said the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

Fire investigator Lee Blackburn said there were no injuries and the cause of the blaze was being investigated.

"Fortunately the occupier did have smoke alarms fitted, she was inside watching TV when the smoke alarm alerted her," he said.

"She went to investigate to find the fire and then she called 999."
