A 31-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a 27-year-old man.

Indogan Erdogan, of no fixed abode, is suspected of killing Fatih Zengi, who was named earlier by Wiltshire Police.

Officers had been called to reports of a seriously injured man on Manchester Road, Swindon, at around 05:10 BST, on 2 July. The man, Mr Zengi, died shortly afterwards.

Mr Erdogan was also charged with possession of a bladed article following the incident. He remains in custody ahead of a court appearance on Saturday 5 July.

Det Ch Insp Phil Walker, who is leading the investigation, offered his condolences to Mr Zengi's family.

"I would also like to thank the local community for their patience and support during this investigation," he added.

"There will continue to be further police presence over the coming days in support of the ongoing investigation and for community reassurance."
