Man charged with woman's murder

A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found with serious injuries at a house in Coventry.

Police were called to an address on Burnaby Road at about 13:00 GMT on Tuesday following reports of concerns for the woman's welfare.

Sixty-two-year-old Astra Sirapina was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arturs Putrasevics, 39, of no fixed address, was arrested and later charged with her murder.

He was also charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place and will appear at Coventry Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
