Two men in their 20s have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after a speed camera was vandalised.

The suspects were in the process of cutting down a speed camera on Manchester Road, in Carrington on Wednesday at about 20:35 BST, police said.

The men, who were detained after officers located their vehicle, remain in custody.

It comes after two other cameras were damaged by vandals using power tools on Edge Lane in Chorlton on Tuesday and on Errwood Road, Burnage in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Det Insp Richard Lees said Greater Manchester Police were making further enquiries to see if there were any connections between the damage to the Manchester Road camera, and the damage to the other cameras in south Manchester.

GMP is urging anyone with any information to get in touch with the force.
