A man has been charged over damage caused to Donald Trump's golf course at Turnberry earlier this month.

A green was dug up at the course on 8 March and another had the words "Gaza is not for sale" painted on it, while red paint was daubed over one of the buildings at the Ayrshire resort.

A 33-year-old man has now been charged in connection with the damage, having initially been arrested on 12 March.

He is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday.

The charge comes a day after a 75-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman were arrested in connection with the vandalism.

They have since been released and police said inquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

President Trump sparked concern internationally after saying he wanted to turn Gaza in a resort like the French Riviera - a proposal that would see Palestinians removed to other countries.
