A "technical issue" has forced a plane to return to Guernsey Airport shortly after take-off.

Guernsey Ports said the Jersey-bound Blue Islands aircraft landed safely at the airport after turning back, with all passengers transferred by bus to the terminal.

The runway was closed at 08:42 GMT before it reopened at 09:50, causing delays to departures, it said.

Aurigny said some flights were likely to experience delays following the closure and advised travellers to arrive at the airport at least 45 minutes before their departure time.

Guernsey Airport Fire and Rescue Service responded to the incident, Guernsey Ports said.
