Man jailed for string of shop thefts
West Midlands PoliceA man who carried out a series of shop thefts, targeting food and household goods, has been jailed.
Lee MacDivitt of Prince Charles Road, Wolverhampton, 27 thefts in Bilston between 1 November and 6 December.
The 36-year-old, who would sometimes target the same store twice in one day, was found to have stolen about £2,000 worth of goods.
He was sentenced to 12 months in prison at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
He pleaded guilty to 27 charges of theft from a shop, as well as to stealing cash and bank cards from a property in Dudley and assaulting a police officer, West Midlands Police said.
The assault occurred when MacDivitt rode a bicycle towards an officer while he was being arrested, the force added.
He was also given a five year criminal behaviour order, which bans him from areas of Bilston.
