GP surgery offers free appointments for patients

A medical practice in Jersey says it has become the only GP surgery to offer patients free appointments in the island.
Windsor Medical Practice said its patients no longer had to pay to visit their GP.
The surgery said it made the change to help address the financial pressures people faced and it wanted to "make healthcare accessible to everyone".
Bosses said it was also a response to Health Minister Tom Binet's suggestion of bringing in new charges for people to use certain health services.
'Permanent change'
A spokesperson for Windsor Medical Practice said "nobody should have to put their health at risk because they can't afford to see a doctor".
They said they want to encourage "early, proactive medical care to keep the community healthy".
The centre said it would offer "free GP appointments for all its existing patients automatically", as well as providing "free appointments for 1,000 new Windsor patients, on a first-come, first-served basis".
The practice said it was not a "temporary offer" but a "permanent change to help support islanders and reduce the pressures on emergency services".
