Anglers from the UK and abroad will flock to the East Yorkshire coast for a major fishing competition.

The Paul Roggeman European Open Beach Championship (EOBC) is due to be held over three days along the coast between Bridlington and Spurn Point.

Named after its late founder, the competition has grown into the largest three-day beach angling competition in Europe, according to the organisers.

The event, which is in its 31st year, is due to run from Friday until Sunday.

The competition will be held at locations between Bridlington and Kilnsea.

It will begin with a warm-up catch and release event on the Friday, named Flattie Bash.

Individual, team and pairs tickets can be purchased at the ticket office at Sand Le Mere Holiday Park, Tunstall, at various times between Thursday and Sunday.

Councillor Anne Handley, the leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said the event would provide "a real boost" to the economy and was "sure to be a great spectacle".
