A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died in Coventry.

Police were called to an address on Burnaby Road at about 13:00 GMT on Tuesday following reports of concerns for the woman's welfare.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and a man in his 30s was arrested at a nearby premises shortly after 13:30 GMT.

The suspect, who is believed to have been known to the woman, remained in custody for questioning, West Midlands Police said.

A force spokesperson said officers were not looking for anyone else in connection with her death.

"The investigation is at a very early stage with an increased police presence in the area as we work to establish exactly what has happened," they added.
