Charity chairman steps down after 30 years

A Guernsey healthcare charity has appointed a new chairwoman after the previous chairman stepped down after more than 30 years in the role.
Sally-Ann David has taken over from Dr Stephen Brennan Roper at Guernsey Chest and Heart LBG, the charity has confirmed.
At the charity's annual general meeting, Dr Roper accepted gifts from the board and reassured them he would still be around to offer advice and guidance.
Mrs David said: "It is an absolute honour to take over from Dr Roper, who has dedicated so many years to the community and this charity in particular."
Mrs David, who has been a board member for 20 years, added: "With an ageing demographic and people living ever more stressful lives, the need for our services is sadly becoming increasingly important.
"I am very grateful that we have such a dedicated team of medical professionals at the centre, as well as the loyal support of the board to help drive us forward."
On stepping down from the role he has held for three decades, Dr Roper said: "It has been a privilege to be chair of Chest and Heart and its Medical Director for so much of its history.
"I am very grateful for all the support and contributions from my board colleagues, which has led to us being one of the foremost charitable organisations in Guernsey."
