Man charged with woman's murder to appear in court

A man charged with a woman's murder is due to appear at crown court this week.

Brian Simpson, 64, of Nene Court, Spalding, was charged with the murder of Kristine Sparane, 37, whose body was discovered at her home in Winsover Road, Spalding, on 26 November.

He appeared at Lincoln Magistrates' Court on Monday but no pleas were entered.

Mr Simpson is next due to appear before Judge Nirmal Shant KC at Nottingham Crown Court for a preliminary and bail hearing later this week.

A date is then expected to be set for a plea and trial preparation hearing before Judge Simon Hirst at Lincoln Crown Court.

A provisional trial date will also be set.

Mr Simpson remains in custody.
