Electoral authority seeking new members in Jersey
The electoral authority is looking for new members and a chairperson to join its team ahead of the 2026 election.
The Jersey Electoral Authority (JEA) oversees the elections to the States Assembly to ensure eligible candidates have all the information they need.
It said new voluntary members would oversee the nomination process, the conduct of candidates, review election expenses, review disputes and complaints, and help produce a report six months after the election.
Candidates would need to work "objectively and impartially" for an initial four-year term which would be reviewed and extended to "provide continuity" - working alongside the Judicial Greffier, States Greffier and a representative of the parishes.
States Greffier Lisa Hart said: "As we approach the 2026 election, it's really important that we have those with a commitment to our community, overseeing the democratic process to ensure it's working and is fair to all.
"We would like applications from a wide variety of islanders so that we can represent everyone's perspectives as part of this crucial body, which will help ensure that Jersey's election is well run, and everyone has all the information they need to stand as a candidate or vote."
The date of the election is expected to be agreed by the States Assembly soon, the JEA said.
