Three pulled from car trapped in storm floods

Firefighters have rescued three people who found themselves trapped when their car was caught in flood-water.

Water rescue specialists were called to Pigeon House Lane in Purbrook, Hampshire, on Saturday afternoon.

Crews from Cosham and Fareham worked to release the people from the vehicle, which was submerged in water up to its windows.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said the casualties were handed over to paramedics.

The measuring device showed the water in the ford was about 3.5ft (1m) deep.

Firefighters left the scene at about 13:00 GMT, while teams from South Central Ambulance Service assessed the casualties.
