An inquest has been opened into the deaths of two women who died after a car left a carriageway and hit a tree in Norfolk.

Sara Isabel Jordao Ribeiro, 29, was a passenger in the Mini One and died at the scene near Ketteringham on 3 November.

The driver, 38-year-old Sara Sofia Das Neves Pancas, died at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge two days later.

The inquest was adjourned at Norfolk Coroner's Court on Monday, and a full inquest into the deaths was due to take place on 19 May.

The court heard that Ms Pancas and Ms Ribeiro, both of the same address in Bidwell Court in Thetford, died as a result of the injuries sustained in the collision, which happened on the A11.

In a tribute, Ms Pancas was described by her family as "fun loving" and "full of joy".

Ms Ribeiro's mother described her as a "loving, caring person".

Norfolk Police said a women aged in her 20s and a man in his 30s, who were also passengers in the car, were seriously injured and remained in hospital.

The force asked for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact it.
