Grimsby Auditorium has been fitted with 20 CCTV cameras

CCTV has been installed at a theatre to help stop antisocial behaviour, North East Lincolnshire Council said.

The 20 cameras cover all of Grimsby Auditorium and are connected to the town's network.

It is in response to reports of cars being driven erratically at the rear of the building and other incidents, the council said.

In total, there are 151 fixed cameras and 43 mobile units across the borough. They were installed at a cost of £2.25m in 2023.

The council claimed the cameras, alongside other methods, had led to an 11% decrease in crime in Grimsby town centre.

Claire Williams, director of Lincs Inspire Venues and Enterprises, said: "This important upgrade not only enhances the safety and security of our patrons and staff but also demonstrates the council's commitment to creating a more secure environment for everyone.

"This support allows us to continue to deliver enjoyable and memorable experiences, whilst giving our guests greater peace of mind."
