Man charged after Nationwide windows smashed

A 43-year-old man has been charged with criminal damage after the front of a Nationwide building society branch was damaged.

Police were called at about 01:00 BST following reports a man had smashed the windows at the branch on Long Causeway in Peterborough.

The man, from the city, was due to appear at Peterborough Magistrates' Court.

Nationwide said the branch was open as normal and the windows would be fixed "as soon as possible".
