A pub fire in Sussex may have been caused deliberately, police say.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters were at the Sussex Yeoman pub in Palatine Road, Worthing.

Emergency services were called to the fire at about 05:20 GMT on Sunday, Sussex Police said.

The force said detectives were investigating if the cause of the fire was deliberate and they carrying out enquiries.

Two engines from Worthing Fire Station were still at the scene shortly after 10:30 on Sunday, the fire service said, urging the public to avoid the area.

A police spokesperson added: "No one was hurt in the incident but the fire caused significant damage to the building."

Anyone with information or dash cam footage of the incident is asked to contact police.
