A council says its assistant chief executive has left to pursue new opportunities, about three months after joining the authority.

Cheshire East Council has lost several top bosses over the past 18 months and had hoped to stem the flow with some of its recent appointments – including that of the now-departing assistant chief executive, Dami Awobajo.

The post was advertised at the end of last year with a salary in the range of £85,883-£115,826.

The role was created to help with the council's ongoing transformation programme.

A spokesperson for the authority said Mr Awobajo left on 30 June.

They thanked him for his contribution and said the assistant chief executive role would initially be covered on an interim basis.

This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
