It's been a mixed week for party goers in the West after we got the news on Wednesday that the future of famous Bristol nightclub Motion is uncertain after its lease ends in July next year.

Local MP Kerry McCarthy vowed to do everything she could to keep the venue open and asked other Bristol MPs to do the same.

The news might come as a disappointment to future Bristol University students after a 706-room accommodation block just down the road took a step closer.

In other music news, fans were as hungry as ever for Glastonbury tickets after the first release for coach packages was snapped up in 32 minutes.

Cold snaps are expected to start from next week

While some might be looking ahead to next summer, others have been considering the cold weather that is forecast to hit the region in the coming weeks.

Temperatures are forecast to dip below zero at night, with experts saying it is earlier than usual.

Meanwhile the family of a Wiltshire teenager who died after being hit by a car in Swindon in 2022 have expressed their anger after charges against a woman accused of his death were dropped.

And Wiltshire police are asking the owners of high-performance cars to be careful where they park them after a spate of break-ins.

And residents of Barton Hill came out to oppose the East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhoods plan, which aims to trial a low traffic neighbourhood.

Proposals are still being implemented but residents say they are already experiencing an increase in vehicle congestion in other streets.

Clifton Suspension Bridge joined the list of accounts leaving the social media platform X due to what they describe as a decrease in meaningful engagement.

Some commented saying it was a "bridge too far".

And Shoe Zone is leaving Burnham-on-Sea, with some saying it feels like the town is "losing everything".

Closed shops were also on the agenda in Bridgwater as the Mercury asks people what they would like to see in the town centre's 10 vacant shops.

And a closed school grabbed the headlines in Gloucester as the Gloucester Academy shut on Friday for "unforeseen" circumstances.

And fans of Bristol Rovers have had their say on the club's black and neon third kit.

The feedback has been largely positive - some are already asking where they can buy it before Christmas.

Speaking of the festive season - Clarks Village broke the world record for the most Santas on an ice rink.

More than 150 people showed up for what was described as an "incredible way" to ring in the season.
