Man found dead in canal in 2010 still unidentified
Police have issued an e-fit image as part of a renewed appeal to identify a man found dead in a canal 14 years ago.
The man's body was found in the Fazeley Canal in Erdington, Birmingham, at about 08:00 GMT on 4 November 2010.
Despite extensive inquiries, he was never identified and West Midlands Police said it had become one of the longest-running cases for its Unresolved Missing Persons Investigation Team.
A post-mortem examination held at the time found the man had died from drowning and an inquest took place to allow him to be laid to rest.
Det Con Darryl Towle said: "Our aim is always to find out who these people are to help them, their families and friends, find peace."
'We're still determined'
The man was thought to be in his 50s and was wearing a dark-coloured jumper with white horizontal stripes, black shoes with Velcro fasteners and brown socks.
He was also described as 5ft 7in tall, with stubble and greying brown collar-length hair.
"He had no identification on him, he did not match the description of any missing people and he has never been reported missing," Det Con Towle added.
"Fourteen years on we're still determined to find out who he was and trace any family or friends."
Anyone who recognises the man is encouraged to contact West Midlands Police.
