Plans approved for new village hall to be built

Plans have been approved for a Shropshire village hall to be relocated and rebuilt.

The hall will be built in Daffodil Lane, Bucknell, opposite the village playing field after the current hall became expensive to run and difficult to maintain.

A "multi-functional space" will be built in its place with parking to provide an "inviting space for all areas of the village community", Prince Architects said in planning documents for Bedstone & Bucknell Parish Council.

“It will create a safe space for many different activities for many future generations," councillor Susan Barrett said.

Concerns were raised about the increased traffic causing safety problems and additional noise, but the plans were supported by 20 people.

The village has used a former World War One army barracks named the Memorial Hall since 1922.

Planning approval was granted for a new village hall in 2011, however the scheme was never implemented and the existing memorial hall has continued to be used.
