Rapist who abused vulnerable teen jailed

A rapist who abused a vulnerable teenager has been jailed for 10 years.

Justin Burton, 48, raped and sexually assaulted his victim in Nottinghamshire in June.

Police said he was arrested the day after his offences, after his victim came forward.

On Thursday at Nottingham Crown Court, Burton, of no fixed address, was jailed, handed a restraining order and told he would be placed on the sex offenders register.

Burton initially denied the offences but, after a trial, he was found guilty of two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault on 11 December.

Det Con Harry Cooper said: "The victim has shown incredible strength since their ordeal and played a central role in helping put Burton in prison for his despicable crimes.

"While I know nothing will ever make up for what happened, I sincerely hope that the fact Burton will now spend a lengthy period behind bars will provide both them and their family with some small degree of comfort."
