Three children and two adults have escaped injury after the house they were in was set on fire in a series of attacks on a house in north Belfast.

Firefighters and police responded to the incident in Glenrosa Link shortly after midnight on Tuesday.

Police said a container of rubbish was set alight at the front of the house, and a car was also set on fire.

Fifteen minutes earlier, officers had been told that three windows had been smashed and paint thrown at the same house. Someone also slashed three tyres of a car.

The house and the car were set on fire before officers were able to respond to the first set of attacks, which were reported shortly before 23:55 GMT on Monday.

The suspect fled the scene.

"At this time we believe the suspect is a man, of skinny build, wearing a dark coloured coat who made off prior to police arrival," police said.

Officers appealed to witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist the investigation to contact them.
