Man arrested after 'mindless' police car vandalism
A man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after three police vehicles were vandalised.
Avon and Somerset Police said the vehicles, which were parked in Manvers Street, Bath, had their windscreens broken at about 19:30 GMT on Thursday.
A 37-year-old from the city remains in custody, police said.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anybody with information related to the incident to contact them.
Neighbourhood Insp Jon Nash said CCTV images are being reviewed as part of the force's investigation.
'Mindless and irresponsible'
"The damage caused is hugely frustrating," he said.
"It means those vehicles will have to be off the road until repaired, and that of course costs money that could be put to much better use for the public.
"We would like to reassure the people of Bath and North East Somerset that steps have been taken to minimise disruption and to ensure officers still have access to police vehicles as necessary."
He added that the police's ability to respond to urgent crime reports and carry out neighbourhood policing work should not be impacted by the "mindless and irresponsible vandalism".
