Five men and a boy have been found guilty at the Old Bailey of killing 21-year-old drug dealer Janayo Lucima.

Lucima, who served a jail term in 2021 for helping to dismember a musician, was killed by a single bullet to the chest as he opened his front door in Kensington last year.

The shooting, described in court as a "planned and organised execution" linked to a drugs dispute, happened when one of the convicted men, 22-year-old Khuder Al Kurdi, lured him out of his home in Barons Court, where gunman Mohamed Mansaray was lying in wait.

The six defendants will be sentenced at a later date.

The convicted defendants:

  • Mohamed Mansaray, 18, of Neasden, north-west London
  • Khuder Al Kurdi, 22, of Barons Court
  • Muktar Said, 23, of Hammersmith
  • Issa Siteri, 19, of Kensington
  • Yusuf Abdi, 19, of Westminster
  • A 17-year-old boy

All were remanded in custody.

The jury failed to reach verdicts on two other defendants, a man and a boy, and a retrial will be held in 2026.

Doorstep killing

Lucima was released from prison in March 2023 after a sentence for perverting the course of justice, relating to the death of jazz trumpeter William Algar.

Mr Algar, 53, was killed at his home in Barnes, south-west London, in a dispute with a drug-dealing gangster over money.

Lucima had admitted running a drugs line from Mr Algar's property and was convicted of perverting the course of justice by buying bleach, washing up liquid, clothes and black bin bags to clean up the scene.

To date, no-one has been held accountable for Mr Algar's murder.

The doorstep killing of Lucima was orchestrated by Al Kurdi, who lived nearby, and carried out by Mansaray.

The others were there to provide "back-up, support and encouragement".

Five of the six fled, in an attempt to avoid prosecution, to Somalia, Libya, Scotland, Spain and Morocco, the Met Police said.

The force tracked them down and either travelled to arrest them, arranged extradition or apprehended them when they returned to the UK.
