City to get its own Monopoly board after contest

Chichester is set to receive its own Monopoly board after beating off rivals from around the UK to get its own version of the game.

Chichester Cathedral, Market Cross and the Festival Theatre will all feature on a new version of the board game, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary.

The city is receiving the board after a competition between 20 UK cathedral cities.

John Keen-Tomlinson of Winning Moves UK, which creates the custom versions of Monopoly with Hasbro, said Chichester had "ticked every box" for a new version of the board game.

He said the game's designers would be "wonderfully spoilt for choice" for locations for the game, which can be suggested by the public.

Other UK towns and cities to have previously received their own versions of the board include Aberdeen, Peterborough, Whitstable and Brighton.

The Chichester board, due for release in 2026, will be themed across areas including heritage, shopping and tourism, with its Chance and Community Chest cards also receiving a Chichester-themed twist.

Nominations for Chichester locations on the board will be open until 23:59 BST on 21 July and can be submitted by emailing [email protected].
