Tip to partially reopen following subsidence issue
A tip which closed due to subsidence is set to partially reopen.
Wombourne Household Waste Recycling Centre in Staffordshire will temporarily reopen for two days per week.
The arrangement is set to be in place for eight weeks, and adjustments would be made based on feedback, Staffordshire Council Council said. The site - a former quarry - would open between 10:00 and 15:00 on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Two containers would be available, one for cardboard and one for plastic.
A contractor has been hired to carry out repairs the site was affected by subsidence earlier this year.
“We have been working hard behind the scenes to find a practical solution for south Staffordshire residents needing somewhere to dispose of their household waste,” said Simon Tagg, cabinet member for environment.
“We are pulling out all the stops to reopen the Wombourne site, with resident and staff safety remaining our number one priority,” he added.
