Former Mersey ferry gutted by fire

A former Mersey ferry has been gutted by fire.
The Royal Iris crossed the River Mersey for more than four decades but has been moored in Woolwich in London for many years.
Half of the boat was ablaze when firefighters got to Harrington Way in Woolwich shortly after 16:15 BST, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.
About 40 firefighters tackled the fire at its height, the service added.
The fire was brought under control by 19:00 and the LFB said the cause was now under investigation.
The vessel was built for Wallasey Ferries of Liverpool in 1950.
After its service on the River Mersey ended in 1991, it was towed to Cardiff before ending up to a berth on the River Thames.
