A village hall has been destroyed by arson after a fire ripped through it.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at 16:26 GMT on Monday to Wells Road, Walsingham.

A spokesman for the service said no injuries were reported and it was put out by 19:06.

Fire investigators have been looking at the cause of the blaze, and police confirmed they were treating it as a deliberate act.

Crews from Wells-next-the-Sea, Fakenham and Holt attended

A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hot spots.

Anyone with any information about the incident has been asked to contact Norfolk Police.

Flames and smoke could be seen coming through the roof

Father Harri Williams, the vicar of Walsingham Benefice, said it was "devastating to see this happen to our community".

"As a church family we have greatly appreciated the place that this village hall has played in the life of our community over many years.

"We pray for hope at this time."
