Four-seat cafe proposed for shipping container
A new tiny four-seat cafe could open in a village near Cambridge inside a refurbished shipping container.
Plans have been put forward to open the new cafe at the Unity Campus development in London Road, Pampisford.
It would have space for only four seats inside, but it was hoping to offer outdoor seating as well.
It is only proposed that the cafe stay open for three years during other construction on the site.
The plans, submitted by Howard Sawston Limited, indicated the cafe would remain open until a permanent version was built in one of the upcoming phases of the life science park development, reports the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The plans submitted to South Cambridgeshire District Council said it would "improve the user experience for existing employees."
“Importantly it will not have any unacceptable adverse effects on existing businesses on the site and, as indicated, it will be removed once the ‘hub’ building proposed within the phase three application is operational," it continued.
“The cafe will also not attract any additional levels of visitor traffic in the area."
The council's planning committee will consider the application at a date yet to be fixed.
